David Murphy is the Senior Director of Marketing & Alliance Management and brings a 20+ year proven track record leading marketing, sales and commercial operations in eye care and consumer health. His specific knowledge of the presbyopia category and deep understanding of the ophthalmology and optometry market’s professional and commercial stakeholders will significantly contribute to LENZ’s commercial success.
Prior to LENZ, he was Director of Strategy & Business Excellence-Latin America at AbbVie’s Allergan Aesthetics division where he pioneered account-level patient profiling and increased sales force effectiveness supporting double-digit sales growth. Previously, he was Director of Patient and Field Marketing at Medtronic Diabetes where he re-engineered consumer and digital marketing of a $1.2B business unit and built a Field Marketing team which generated a 28% increase in ROI. Before Medtronic, he was Director of Sales Operations-Americas at Johnson & Johnson Vision Surgical where he led the 26-member team turnaround beating company objectives in a $600M business. Mr. Murphy was previously Vice President of Global Marketing DAILIES/Fashion Wear- CIBA Vision at Novartis where he drove DAILIES market share at 4x the segment growth rate and established the product portfolio strategies that were fully executed for a $900M business.
Prior to Novartis, he held U.S. and international marketing, sales and strategy positions of increasing responsibilities at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (Franchise Director Global Marketing; Director of Distributor Sales; and Director of Marketing) and Bausch & Lomb (Director of Marketing Mexico). David Murphy has received a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Stanford University.
